Now that I walk more than I drive, I am quite selective about my footwear. These socks were perfect in every way, except that they were thin in the heels from wear. A fifteen minute darning session gave them new life.

New site looks good. I love darning it’s very meditative. Looking forward to these new posts. x

I find darning (and most hand sewing) to be meditative also. So much so, that when my machine broke, I did not replace it.

I’m not that brave….am keeping the machine as back up. But I plan to have a go at hand sewing a shirt or top maybe. I also have a lovely old 100yr old hand cranked Singer sewing machine and I love the gentle tick, tick, tick sound it makes as it purrs along. Love to see some more of your hand sewing. I loved that japanese darning you did on a top once.

My mom has a foot-pedaled Singer that belonged to my great-grandmother. She uses it as an end table. 🙂 I’m pretty sure there will be more hand sewing posts. It is one of my few hobbies.

I have a favorite pair of Christmas socks knitted from fine cotton yarn. They’ll definitely be darned rather than discarded. Besides, isn’t darning cool? It give an artsy touch to the design.

I love the whole mending-as-art and have started following several people who post about it. I will include my own projects, as I complete them.
